Damiano Cunego is among most active riders of the stage, with the aim of maintain and increase his leadership in the Blue Jersey ranking..
Since from the morning an escape of 30 riders, among them Damiano Cunego and Grega Bole from the NIPPO Vini Fantini team. Since from the first GPM of the day the challenge is hard with many competitors, first of all Giovanni Visconti, one of best riders of today from Movistar team. On the first GPM also a contact between Cunego and Visconti that the #OrangeBlue captain comments with this words: “I was in the very end of the sprint and two masseur on the right jump out on my right so as instinct I moved on the left thinking of being alone. Only in last moment I’ve seen a Movistar coming and later I knew he was Visconti, that unfortunately in the contact falls down. I want to apologize with him, I know very well how bad is falling down. I hope he is fine, for sure later he made a great stage, I want to congratulate with him.
Today for me too has been a great stage, I’m very happy to have been active on 3 of 4 GPM of the day taking very important points for the ranking of King of the Mountain. A great satisfaction for me and for all the team that stage after stage is honoring this Giro d’Italia invitation very good.”
Also Stefano Giuliani, that today had as guest on the team car Davide Cassani Italian Selection Sports Director, is satisfied of the race: “From a strategic point of view went very good, our riders have been good to pay attention since the very first begin giving the chance to Damiano Cunego and Grega bole to be inside the escape of the day. It was very important to be active on first two GPM before the fight for pink was starting. Again no stage victory but the important goal to keep the blue jersey. Now we have to recover energies because tomorrow is another strong day.
