Damiano Cunego demonstrates again to be in a good condition, coming with all big of the race trying also an action few km before the arrival on Aru, Porte, Uran and Contador
Eight stage of the Giro d’Italia, with arrival in Campitello Matese that wait riders after 186 km of race and 13 km of the last climb. The group with the pink jersey approach the last climb in an aggressive way to close on the escape. That means an hard selection where only few top riders can resist to. 2 km before the arrival Damiano Cunego try to attack leaving also the big behind him, that comes back on him leaded by Fabio Aru. After a great day Damiano close in 9th position, just behind few top rides and a couple of escapers, reaching also the 14th position of the Global Ranking.
Stefano Giuliani is ok with the team reaction: “We began Good race of all the team that worked to close on the escapers then Damiano that was feeling good demonstrated all his talent trying to anticipate the final sprint with a great attack. At first no one resisted, and if Aru would have been waiting few seconds more to attack Contador and Porto maybe we will be there talking about another end of the race.”
