The young Italian talent, launched by the NIPPO Vini Fantini team among PROs, won his first race at his third year among PROs. After the great results of the begin of this season finally the victory, reached with great personality in this GP of Lugano, with a great come back from the second group, up the top of the race.
What a victory for the NIPPO Vini Fantini team. Iuri Filosi is the winner of GP of Lugano, at the end of a circuit of 23km with 8 laps and 16 climbs. A very important victory that comes from one of the best young talents launched by the Italian-Japanese team.
THE RACE.
A strong circuit with a race immediately hard for Filosi and Cunego remained in the second group, with 30 escapers in front of them. In the first group 3 #OrangeBlue Marco Canola, Alessandro Bisolti and Nicola Bagioli doing a great job. With a very good job they were able to come back on the group, that had another breakaway of 2 riders in the very front. Iuri Filosi decided to attack coming back also on the duo when 50 km were missing to the finish line. On the last climb the most important action of the #OrangeBlue talent that remains alone, then again reached by Marco Frapporti and finally wins the sprint.
THE RIDER.
At his third and most important year among PRO Iuri Filosi reach his first victory.
After good placements and good races, as the Milano-Sanremo rode with best cyclists and Tour of the Alps closed with a top10 in one stage, the Italian #OrangeBlue born in 1992 reach his first victory among PROs.
A victory that was something habitual for him in the Under23 category with also very important placements as the 2nd place in the European Championships Under23 in 2014 and the 6th place in the World Championship of Ponferrada in 2014. Among PROs already good placements as the 5th place in Volta Limburg 2016 and now finally the victory.
Also for all these reasons he his very happy at the end of this incredible race:
“What a satisfaction to pas the finish line for first, alone, again. A victory arrived after a lot of work, hard trainings and a lot of determination. Today when we remained in the second group with minutes of gap from the first 30 riders was not easy to not give up. Before than with legs, with the head and motivations. But when we come back I was feeling very good, so I decided to attack reaching also the very first 2 leaders. On the last climb I remained alone, Frapporti come back on me at the very end but then I won the final sprint. A very important victory for all the people that didn’t stop to believe in me, starting from all my team, but a special dedication goes to Walter, a friend of mine unfortunately passed away last Autumn. My victory is also for him.”
THE SPORT DIRECTOR.
On the team car a satisfied Valerio Tebaldi, at his first victory #OrangeBlue DS: “We know that the race development was dangerous and hard. When Filosi and Cunego remained in the second group with 35 riders in front has been hard but very important to come back. Then he made a great number launching himself behind the duo of leaders and finally attacking alone in the last climb.
For us, as a team, is a great satisfaction, after a lot of work made on our young talents, we are taking the results of our work in this year. He is one of our best young talents, at his first victory but for sure not the last.”
