Sibiu, 9th of July 2017.
Last stage of Sibiu Tour, with the final circuit in Sibiu. Eduard Grosu, in race with the National Rumanian Selection, after the podium of the first stage reach the final victory. For the Rumenian sprinter is the second victory of the season, after the one of the National Time Trial Championship.
A victory arrived thanks to a strong determination of Grosu that in this first part of the season already arrived 2nd for 3 times (Tour of Oman, Tour of Croatia, Sibiu Tour – prima tappa) coming in the final top10 many other times, some of them also in World Tour races (such as Abu Dhabi Tour and Tirreno-Adriatico). Today finally the victory in the final sprint to be on the top of the podium.
These the words of Eduard Grosu after the finish-line: “To win in Sibiu is special, I was feeling the supporters giving me pressure and motivations. It was a strong stage, with 5 climbs. My 2 team-mates and the CCC worked to close on the breakaway of the day. Then 2 km before the finish-line I followed an attack of another rider and these give me the chance to not be inside the fall behind me. The real sprint started 500 before the finish-line on the pavè and some meters before the arrival I realized I remained alone. A great victory that I want to dedicate to my mother (Her birthday was few days ago) and to my team. The NIPPO Vini Fantini team gives me the chance to be there with the National Selection and now I’m ready and motivated to win again with the #OrangeBlue jersey in Asia in Tour of Qinghai Lake.”
It ends in the best way as possibile this adventure with the National Selection of Romania. After 2 important success in less than a month, with the National Time Trial Championship and today victory Eduard Grosu is now ready and strongly determinate to keep going on with other victories together with his team, starting from next important race in the calendar, the Tour of Qinghai Lake in China.
