On the famous wall of cycling, today appears a new plaque, as award to his career. The name on it is the one of Mario Manzoni, Professional rider from 1991 to 2004, winner of a stage of the Giro d’Italia, teammates of Marco Pantani and today Sports Director of the NIPPO Vini Fantini team.
A new awarding plaque, from this Saturday, is on the famous “Wall of Riders” of Laigueglia. The name on the plaque is the one of Mario Manzoni, the famous ex-professional rider, from 1991 to 2004. Among his most famous victories there is one stage in Giro d’Italia 1997 and of one stage in Tirreno-Adriatico 1994. With 11 Great Tours, 6 Monuments he is also an ex team-mate of Marco Pantani.
Today Mario Manzoni is the Sports Director of NIPPO Vini Fantini team, and with the Laigueglia & Alassio Bay have a special feeling. With the #OrangeBlue team, every year, the season starts from there with special training camps, to prepare the first races of the Italian season, as the Trofeo Laigueglia. Also in 2017 the season has been prepared also with one week of training camp in Alassio.
From today the name of Mario Manzoni is on the famous wall, together with many other important riders that comes in Liguria, from Eddy Merckx to Vincenzo Nibali, and also together with another important name of the NIPPO Vini Fantini team: the one of Ugo De Rosa, the founder of Cicli De Rosa Company.
The new Plaque has been realized thanks to the Municipality of Laigueglia, with the Mayor F.Maglione, in collaboration with one of the creators of the "Riders Wall", Bruno Zanoni, also organizer of the Trofeo Laigueglia and Roberto Schiavon, Chief of media & pr of Trofeo Laigueglia.
