Image NIPPO VINI FANTINI: OTTIMO SESTO POSTO DI MARCO CANOLA NELLA SECONDA TAPPA DEL GIRO DELLA TOSCANA. Volterra, 27 settembre. 2017. Marco Canola ancora in top10. Image NIPPO VINI FANTINI: 6TH PLACE OF MARCO CANOLA IN THE SECOND STAGE OF THE GIRO DELLA TOSCANA.

While everyone was expecting for climbers today on the finish line, with the double climb of Volterra, there is a few selection in the first climb and the race “explodes” only in the second part with a Marco Canola that with a very strong performance get the 6th place in the stage of today, few seconds behind the winner of the general ranking Martin Guillaume (Wanty – Groupe Gobert).

Final 8th place of Marco Canola in the general ranking.

Volterra, 27th September 2017.

Marco Canola is again the best among the #OrangeBlue riders, again in the top10 of the day with a wonderful 6th place in the second stage, after the 10th place of the previous stage. A stage that was expected to be for climbers, due to the dynamic of the race becomes more a strong “classic” with Marco Canola playing his chances of victory almost until the end.

THE SECOND STAGE.

164 km of race, with the official start from the “Teatro del Silenzio” of the Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli. The Italian artist gives the start of the stage, that in the first part was flat and with a 9 riders breakaway. The first passage on the Volterra climb made the first selection in the group, then the race exploded in the last 20 km. 5 #OrangeBlue riders remained to play for the victory, Ivan Santaromita, Hideto Nakane, Damiano Cunego, Iuri Filosi and Marco Canola. On the last climb a good team work with Ivan Santaromita and Damiano Cunego helping very well Marco Canola, that was in a very good condition and final 6th on today finish-line. A very good 6th place for Marco Canola in a final road that seemed a “monument race” more than a real stage for climbers.

THE DECLARATION.

Marco Canola, always very ambitious, seems really disappointed also with this very good result and the double top10 in these 2 stages, that means also a final 8th place in the General Ranking: “When you feel so good and to be able also to win I feel always a little bit disappointed, and also a very good sixth place seems not enough. But we worked well as a team, especially with Ivan Santaromita and Damiano Cunego, two experienced riders very important for me on the last climb. Unfortunately when it start the most important action in front of the group someone made the “hole” and we then have not been able to close also if we went really close. Anyway congratulations to the winner, he deserved this result, after the good action of today, to win the general ranking.”

It ends with a final 8th place in the General Ranking and a double top ten in the single stages of a great Marco Canola. The team is yet focused on the Coppa Sabatini, that will start tomorrow morning, always on the Tuscany roads.
