The suggestive great start of Giro in the Netherlands, gives the idea to the NIPPO Vini Fantini to start again a collaboration with Carbonsink, to balance entirely the CO2 emissions of The Netherlands transfer. A stage in The Netherlands have the same impact of almost 2m5 stages in Italy in 2015 Giro. The great difference is mainly due to transportation of cars, materials, riders and staff
Carbonsink, start-up born from University of Florence, but coming from La Spezia, as the NIPPO Vini Fantini team, decided to support the team in Giro d’Italia 2016, to balance CO2 emission of the team during the Netherlands start.
The great start of the Pink Race in Alpedoorn in The Netherlands, is strongly suggestive, with an incredible number of public, but obviously it creates a great number of transportations. Carbonsink has calculated the medium impact of first 3 stages of Giro d’Italia 2016, will be two and an half superior in respect of the CO2 calculated on the 2015 stages of NIPPO Vini Fantini.
The #OrangeBlue team, since the very begin with a special green attitude, decided to optimize some movements, sending the bus directly to Catanzaro and using in the North just a camper, that will then go to tour of Norway in the middle of May. Also with this special attitude the CO2 emission of the whole team in these first 3 stages will count a total of 23.210 Kg, around the 230% in respect of the first 3 stages of Giro 2015 of NIPPO Vini Fantini. For this reason the team decided to repeat what already done last year with Carbonsink, balancing the CO2 emission buying certified green credits.
Andrea Maggiani, CEO of Carbonsink, declares himself happy of the partnership: “This partnership with NIPPO Vini Fantini team, demonstrate as our 2 companies are really environment focus. Cycling and the bike are a “green” sport, but this doesn’t mean that CO2 emission are not produced by all the logistic and team needs. The attention to balance them buying green credits to support the international and certified project promoted by Carbonsink, demonstrate a great vision of the General Manager of the team Francesco Pelosi. I would like to invite all the other teams and companies to discover our project and choose among them the concrete possibility to balance their CO2 emission.”
The numbers regarding only NIPPO Vini Fantini team great start.
23.210 Kg of C02 produced in 3 stages in the Netherlands, is as to say:
7 years emission of a small double room apartment.
Or
70.000 espresso.
Or
1.470 Kg of Meat.
Or
42.000 km made by a Diesel car of medium horse power.
